Description

NURS 6053 Module 4 Assignment Workplace Environment Assessment

Clearly, diagnosis is a critical aspect of healthcare. However, the ultimate purpose of a diagnosis is the development and application of a series of treatments or protocols. Isolated recognition of a health issue does little to resolve it.

In this module’s Discussion, you applied the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory to diagnose potential problems with the civility of your organization. In this Portfolio Assignment, you will continue to analyze the results and apply published research to the development of a proposed treatment for any issues uncovered by the assessment.

Solution: NURS 6053 Module 4 Assignment Workplace Environment Assessment

Introduction

A healthy workplace climate is a prerequisite for enhancing staff member well-being, fellowship, and company accomplishment, especially at healthcare facilities such as WISH, where staff interprofessional cooperation directly identifies patient outcomes. The Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory and other models, such as the model of civility and respect developed by Cynthia Clark, are vital instruments that enable the evaluation and improvement of working environments. This paper defines strengths and areas of improvement in WISH by assessing its work environment, which received a moderately healthy score of 82 out of 100. The paper argues that the introduction of the structured mentoring programs, inclusive governance practices, team-building workshops, and diversity training, following the civility framework designed by Clark and supported by the literature, will improve the organizational health of WISH and lead to high-performance interprofessional teams in the contexts of the WHO Healthy Workplace Model, which focuses on the idea of the supportive and equitable working conditions.

Work Environment Evaluation

The Work Environment Assessment, based on the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, was applied to my workplace, WISH, and it was rated 82, indicating a moderately healthy work environment. The employee appreciation, teamwork, and fair treatment all score 5, which reflects a solid culture of respect and cooperation. Additionally, there was a high score of 4 in terms of open communication and emphasis on wellness, which further strengthened a healthy environment. However, many others, including mentoring, shared governance, and competitive pay, were also graded as neutral, with a mark of 3 emphasizing that they should address the issue of career development and employee participation in the decision-making process more actively. These findings indicate that a work environment that supports excellent interpersonal relationships needs to improve the prospects of professional development and involvement to take its health and civility to the next level.

There were two shocking results that I was not expecting regarding the neutrality of the mentoring score (3) and shared governance (3). A moderately healthy workplace, such as WISH, would do better in its mentoring program because the company focuses on worker support. In the same way, the neutral score of the shared governance was a surprise, considering that I expected more involvement of employees in making decisions. Among the beliefs that were validated as per the assessment was the existence of transparent communication. I have been confident that WISH has an open and healthy, polite communications channel, which turned out to be true as the score of 4 confirms that, which is standard practice in the workplace, whereby so much communication is direct, and a healthy workplace ensures an effective direct communication channel…
